Youth Skill Center

Beyond the platform, Ujuzi HUT operates a Skills Center in the peri-urban centers that addresses the upstream constraint of capability for youth who have been excluded from formal skills development pathways. This is a deliberate extension of our market-shaping approach: we do not assume the existence of supply we build it where it is absent. The Skills Center targets underserved youth, particularly young women, equipping them with practical, income-generating competencies in areas such as gig work, tailoring, hairdressing, and barbering (kinyozi), alongside foundational business and life skills. Structured as a 12-month, outcomes-driven program, the model is designed to respond directly to localized market demand while ensuring participants transition beyond training into economic participation either through self-employment, enterprise creation, or entry into the labor market. By integrating skills creation with market access, Ujuzi HUT closes the full loop from capability development to income generation ensuring that no young person is left behind due to lack of skills, access, or opportunity.
